University of Malaya Kalam Day

Kalam Research and Media (KRM), together with the Islamic and Strategic Studies Institute (ISSI) and the Academy of Islamic Studies of the University of Malaya, organised a “Kalam Day” for students at the University of Malaya on 22 September 2018.

Kalam Research and Media (KRM), together with the Islamic and Strategic Studies Institute (ISSI) and the Department of Aqidah and Islamic Thought of the Academy of Islamic Studies of the University of Malaya, organised a “Kalam Day” for students at the University of Malaya.

The University of Malaya Kalam Day is a new programme for students who are interested in Kalam. The programme was held at Dewan Kuliah Utama at the University of Malaya campus.

The first session began with lectures on the “Introduction to the Classical Kalam” by Dr. Syed Mohammad Hilmi Bin Syed Abdul Rahman, the head of the Department of Aqidah and Islamic Thought, and another lecture on “The Kalam Tradition as a Basis for Islamic Thought Revivification” by Dr. Amran Muhammad, Director of the ISSI-KRM office.

The second session is conducted by a number of alumni of the department to guide the 80 first year students on the understanding of Kalam where they are divided into groups and make a presentation before the end of University of Malaya Kalam Day.
