Seminar Series on Kalam Revival and Contemporary Issues at IIUM

Kalam Research and Media (KRM) and the Islamic and Strategic Studies Institute (ISSI) organised a seminar series on the revival of Kalam and contemporary issues at the International Islamic University of Malaysia. 

Kalam Research and Media (KRM) and the Islamic and Strategic Studies Institute (ISSI), in cooperation with the Department of Usul al-Din and Comparative Religion of the Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (KIRKHS) at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM )organised a seminar series on the revival of Kalam and contemporary issues.

The seminar series  was held at the IIUM campus, on the following dates, topics and speakers:

1. (9 November 2018) “Examining the Mu’tazilite Influence in the Development of Ash’arite Kalam” by Dr. Amilah Awang Abdul Rahman
2. (16 November 2018) “The Relevance of Kalam to Comparative Religion” by Dr. Fatmir Shehu, and “Modern Ideologies from an Islamic Intellectual Perspective” by Dr. Megawati Moris
3. (30 November 2018) “Unravelling the Confusion of Religious Pluralism” by Associate Professor Dr. Haslina Ibrahim, and “A Survey on the Development of Kalam in the Islamic Tradition” by Assistant Professor Dr. Noor Amali Mohd Daud
4. (7 December 2018)  “Tinjauan Perkembangan Ilmu Kalam di Nusantara dan Halatujunya” by Assistant Professor Dr. Ismail Mamat.
