Professor Sait Özervarli teaches intellectual history and methodology at Yıldız Technical University in Istanbul, where he chairs the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences. Professor Özervarli received his Ph.D. in Islamic theology from Marmara University, did post-doctoral work at Harvard University and was a member of the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton University. He has published widely on the revitalization of Muslim theological thought. His research focuses on Intellectual History, Ottoman Philosophy, East-West Interactions, Methodology in Humanities and Social sciences, and Alternative Modernization Theories. Among his books are Revitalization of Traditional Thought among Modern Ottomans (in Turkish 1998, 2008) and Aspects of Ottoman Intellectual History: From Classical Period to Modern Discussions (Istanbul, 2009), including a number of journal articles.
