Dr. Nagib Al-Hsadi is a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Garyounis, Benghazi, Libya and was the former Head of the Department of Philosophy at the University of Al-Ain in the UAE. His specialisation is in the areas of Logic and Philosophy of Science. Professor Al-Hsadi received his BA in Philosophy in 1973 from the Libyan University and went on to complete two MAs in Philosophy from Georgetown University and from the University of Wisconsin. He obtained his Ph.D. in Philosophy with a dissertation on the topic “Scientific Rationality: A Critique of Thomas Kuhn’s Account of Science”, also from the University of Wisconsin. Professor Al-Hsadi has taught courses in Logic, Philosophy of Science, Introduction to Philosophy and Metaphysics, and Critical Thinking, and other topics. He has authored over 20 books and numerous academic articles. Professor Al-Hsadi is also a leading translator into Arabic of key Western works on Philosophy such as Logical Positivism by A. J. Ayer (Dar Al Afak, Morocco, 1994), Readings in the Philosophy of Science by B. Brody (Dar Al Nahda Al Arabiya, Beirut, 1997), Men of Ideas by Bryan Magee (Garyounis University, Libya, 1998), From a Logical Point of View by W. V. Quine (Creativity Development Council, Libya, 2004), The Oxford Companion to Philosophy by T. Honderich (Creativity Development Council, Libya, 2004), and Uncertainty by D. Lindly (Muassasset Kalema, Abu Dhabi, UAE, 2009) among others.
