Sohail Younus Nakhooda

Sohail Younus Nakhooda is Executive Director and Head of Research and Publishing at Kalam Research & Media (KRM), UAE. At KRM he is a Co-Leader of the Islamic Analytic Theology project in association with the John Templeton Foundation. He was the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of the award-winning Islamica Magazine. He was also on the editorial board of the journal Encounters and served as Assistant Editor for the American Journal of Islamic Social Sciences, and the Muslim World Book Review. During the Libyan revolution he worked as Secretary of the Libya Stabilization Team and also with the Support Offices of the Executive Team of the National Transitional Council of Libya. He was former advisor to HRH Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad of Jordan; Chief Archivist for ‘A Common Word’ inter-faith initiative; and a Junior Fellow of the Royal Aal Al-Bayt Institute. 

Sohail is a Gujarati Indian Muslim and was born in 1970 in Lourenço Marques (latter named Maputo) in Mozambique, and has lived in Hong Kong, Portugal, UK, Pakistan, Spain, Ireland, Italy, and Jordan. He is fluent in Gujarati, Portuguese and English, and also conversant in Italian and Urdu. He holds both Portuguese and Jordanian nationalities. He received a BSc in Government from the London School of Economics and Political Science, postgraduate certificates in Catholic Theology from the St. Thomas Aquinas Pontifical University (Angelicum) in Rome, and another MA in Protestant Theology from the University of Nottingham, UK. He has over 20 years of book and graphic design expertise, and was a finalist in the prestigious British Book Design and Production Awards (2002). His designed and typesetted books include Port in a Storm, Maqasid, Sea Without Shore by Sheikh Nuh Keller; The Amman Message for the Royal Aal Al-Bayt Foundation; Faith, Submission and Beauty by Joseph Lumbard and published by the Zaytuna Institute; several publications by HRH Prince Ghazi Bin Muhammad of Jordan; and many others. He won gold awards from the Calendar Marketing Association of North America for his design work. His research interests span Theology, Muslim-Christian Relations, Hermeneutics, Media and Typography and Book Design.
