Dr Sanaa Makhlouf

Dr Sanaa Makhlouf is Senior Instructor at the Department of Rhetoric and Composition at the American University in Cairo. She obtained BA and MA from the American University in Cairo; MA in Medieval Political Philosophy from the Center for Middle Eastern Studies, Harvard University; and PhD from the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilization, Harvard University on “A Hermeneutics of Spiritual Writings of al-Amir Abd al-Qadir al-Jazaíri”. She was a copy editor of the ISIM Review, Leiden University, The Netherlands, 2005-2009. Dr Sanaa was a Member of the Sunni Delegation at the Interfaith Summit Meeting, National Cathedral, Washington DC (2010), and Beirut (2012); Coordinator of Al-Azhar Cambridge Imam Program (2010); Visiting Professor, Graduate School, ASAFAS, Kyoto University, (Spring 2010). She was a participant at the US Islamic World Forum, Washington, DC (April 2011), and Doha (2013); and Inter religious participant, 10th Assembly of World Council of Churches (Busan 2013). She was written widely on Muslim Reform Movements, Islamism and Political Islam, and Qur’anic Hermeneutics.
