Mr Sunny Varkey, President GEMS Education met with Dr Aref Ali Nayed, Chairman of Kalam Research & Media (KRM) and the Libya Institute of Advanced Studies (LIAS) together with Job Maats, Senior Advisor to LIAS, and Sohail Nakhooda, Executive Director of KRM, to explore the potential of joint initiatives between GEMS, KRM, and LIAS.
Mr Varkey shared his vision with respect to a new Dubai-based foundation to advance globally shared culture and build on the innate optimism of young people to learn from each other. Dr Nayed emphasised the importance of compassion as part of initialising new cultural values that build on shared respect for each other and the importance of developing young people’s understanding of their own and other’s religions and the shared principles that root them. KRM looks forward to cooperating with GEMS in this exciting initiative.
GEMS initiative to expand into online education and to develop its virtual education technologies dovetails well with the needs of many countries where civil unrest have disrupted the established classroom-based education model. LIAS and GEMS have agreed to further discussion to explore the opportunities for joint initiatives to roll out affordable online education.
